Welcome!
Greetings
Sisters! I wish to welcome you to our new branch of ministry from Israel
called “Vessels of Valor” Just for women. This ministry was
birthed from a Word the L-rd gave to me, Jennifer, on one August afternoon
in 2004 while sitting on my bed in prayer, here in the Land of Israel.
G-D spoke to me that women need to be strengthened, first in faith, and
also in character. A wonderful teacher once said, “the only
thing we will take into heaven is character.” We, as women, must
work to develop the character that G-D desires for us.
What
type of character does G-D desire of His daughters? This may shock
you, but it’s not the typical proverbial picture we’re used to seeing:
the woman in a long dress, apron, and maybe her head is covered.
She may have a rolling pin in one hand and many children surrounding her.
Often times, these pictures have either stimulated us to press into a more
godly life, separated from the world, or, have steered us into discouragement,
where many women of the 90’s just throw their hands up and say, “I’ll never
be like that.” While the above picture is a picture that is commendable,
it’s not for everyone. I lived that life, and honestly, I’m no longer
living up to that frame, because my culture has changed and I feel called
to be unto the people I minister to-as Amy Carmichael went against English
formalist tradition and dressed as an Indian woman. Many times these
conservative views can cause the less than conservative to feel inadequate,
all the while accusing our more conservative sisters with being under bondage,
“religious” or prideful. The good news Vessels has to offer is that
the character G-D calls His daughters to is uniform, for ALL His daughters,
and it’s not about the way we dress, how many kids we have, whether we
home school or not. The truth of the matter is, whether your conservative
or liberal, Charismatic or extremely conservative, the call to be a Woman
of Valor is for each and every one of you.
A
“woman of valor” as noted in the famous Proverbs 31 passage paints a different
picture in the original Hebrew than what we are most used to seeing in
our Christian culture. Not that there is anything wrong with the ideas
of the godly woman, but, we’ve been lacking a very important characteristic.
Most of the pictures that we receive of being the proverbial wife fall
into several practical categories. Many of the instructions we receive
are industrious towards how to be more improved in our earthly jobs. What
we now have to pursue is how to adorn the spiritual proverbial character,
which G-D intended for each and every female in the body of Messiah.
The translation of that woman is to be a soldier: The dictionary describes
a soldier as :
“1
a : one engaged in military service and especially in the army b : an enlisted
man or woman c : a skilled warrior
2
: a militant leader, follower, or worker”
Another
description for that character would be a ‘woman of valor‘. This requires
a person to:
be
strong in their mind or spirit,
be
able to encounter danger while being steadfast,
have
personal bravery.
These
characteristics are hard for us as women to identify with. Nevertheless,
this is extremely important for us to maintain our roles as godly co-leaders
of our homes with our husbands, or, captains of your own ship if you are
in a season without a husband. It is my hope and desire to help spur you
on to strength, and even find some joy in the midst of your trials.
I’m
so blessed that you stumbled onto my site. I hope you join
along with me in this journey of building godly character. May you be blessed,
and call upon the name of the L-rd each and every day!
In
His love,
Jennifer
Wiseman
PS-You
will see I refer to the Messiah many times as Yeshua, His Hebrew
given name, and sometimes Jesus. They’re interchangeable. I hyphenate the
name of G-D or title L-rd to set His name apart from any common names as
His name is Holy. The Jews write His name like this, and since I live in
Israel, it became for me a conviction to “be all things to all men” as
Paul commands us to do. (1 Cor. 10:32,33) To learn more about our ministry
